A screed underfloor heating system consists of the pipe being buried in inches of the overlaying screed. This type is most suited to large floor spaces creating a low level background heat and pleasant underfoot surface. It can take a longer for the initial warmup and cooling down due to the screed.
Installation consists of preparing the manifold installation and a thermal layer applied to the subfloor, the manifold is then installed and the pipes laid evenly to create an even heat. Screed is then poured over the pipes and once cured your chosen flooring fitted on top.
Suspended timber floors can be draughty and potentially damp, installing a joisted underfloor heating system is the perfect solution. A lot of older properties will have timber suspended flooring.
Once installed the heat from the floor will depend on the material covering the joists, our engineers can advise on the best options for the most efficient heating.
Joisted systems have to be carefully designed to ensure the manifold and piping are all correctly placed to create an efficient system. All the floorboards will be lifted and then the piping is laid in between the joists using spreader plates or EPS panels that are notched into the joists to hold the piping.
This is the most convenient system to install, ideal for new builds and older homes that are being renovated. It provides the most efficient heating with the most control and convenience.
Combing underfloor heating with PIR insulation it insulates and heats your home in one package. The insulation is also resistant to moisture with a class 1 fire rating.
Fitted on top of the structural floor base this system can be installed quickly with your chosen flooring laid directly on top.
We completed this underfloor heating project in Ravenshead using overlay boards on a timber first floor.
This low profile overlay system provides maximum heat efficiency only requiring 20mm in height.
